Essential Things to Know:
- For appearing in the CSS exam, compulsory subjects are mandatory to attempt.
- There will be written exams of Applied Physics, Pure Mathematics and Essays while candidates should prepare themselves to attempt MCQs for other subjects exams.
- For the exams of regional languages, i.e. Punjabi, Pashto, Sindhi, Balochi, Arabic, Persian, it is mandatory to answer the question papers in the relative language.
- For the exams of other subjects, you are must answer the question paper in English or Urdu language or according to the instructions.
- In case of answering the question paper in an irrelevant language, your exam will be rejected.
- The non-muslims have the option for selecting the subject of Islamic studies or Comparative Study.
- Candidates should choose the subject from the group according to the calculation of the marks.
Compulsory Subjects for CSS Exams (600 Marks)
The following subjects are compulsory to select in which candidate is must to appear. There are 600 total marks for these compulsory subjects. MCQ’s of these CSS exam subjects are to be answered on the computerized sheet, while the other subjective answers are required in the answer copy.

- Paper – III (Pakistan Affairs) = 100 Marks
- Islamic Studies or Comparative Study of Major Religions (For Non-Muslims) = 100 Marks
Optional Subjects for CSS Exams (600 Marks)
Candidates are required to select the optional subjects from the following groups of subjects. You need to select one subject from each group of subjects. But make sure you are selecting the subjects according to the calculation of marks. The total marks for the optional subjects are 600.

Candidates are allowed to select one subject from this group of subjects that carries marks of 200. You can choose one subject from these CSS subjects:
